The father of a 12 year old girl contacted me to write a song for her upcoming birthday. Her parents had recently gone through a divorce and she was in a shared custody scenario. His daughter, Sarah, was now living in NYC, after being raised in a rural area, going through all the challenges one would expect with the many changes in her life.

Before I began writing, Sarah sent me a very long and thorough list of her challenges, hopes, dreams, preferences, etc. I knew by her writing that she was one very "together" young girl. The hook line easily fell into my mind... "Sarah will figure it out".

Writing this song was another joy and privilege.
